Preparation

Combine all ingredients with approximately one ounce of pebble ice in a cocktail shaker and whip shake for 8-10 seconds. Pour unstrained into a cocktail glass and fill with more pebble ice.

Hints of anise from the absinthe and warm spice from the bitters add complexity beneath the tropical surface, while grenadine provides just enough color and sweetness to mask the drink's considerable strength.
