Chrysanthemum

The Chrysanthemum is a pre-Prohibition aperitif that trades spirituous strength for aromatic complexity. Dry vermouth forms the backbone while Bénédictine contributes honeyed herbal sweetness, and a few dashes of absinthe add an anise-tinged edge without overwhelming the drink. The orange twist brightens the nose and tempers the botanical depth. It drinks light and bitter-sweet, meant for slow sipping before a meal.
