Vincent’s Ruin
Ingredients
Preparation
In a rocks glass, pour enough absinthe to coat the interior, turning the glass to cover the surface, then pour out any excess absinthe. In a shaker, combine the remaining ingredients and shake with ice until chilled. Strain the contents of the shaker into the absinthe-rinsed glass. Squeeze a large swath of lemon peel over the drink and place it in the glass.
A whiskey sour variation with an herbal edge, Vincent's Ruin balances bourbon's caramel warmth against bright citrus and the delicate floral sweetness of elderflower. The absinthe rinse provides a subtle anise backdrop that lingers on the finish, adding complexity without overwhelming the drink's core. It's refreshing but substantial, with lemon bitters sharpening the edges into something crisp and assured.
